Fuel Tank

This is where the idea for the fuel tank came from.

"And they will beat there bombs into fossil fuel tanks"

The original fuel tank was stripped off the Petrol engine to

1.  Remove the garden implement look of the Honda engine.
2.  Give us some more space between the bug-catcher and the engine.

Next we had to find some place else to store the fuel.

To keep the center of gravity down and low we have opted to place the fuel tank below the chassis rail.

As not much fuel is needed to extend the travel range of the Hybrid Cat to 100 km we need a tank that holds about 2 liter of petrol.

We have decided to double the Hybrid Cat's range  and so it will be equipped with two fuel tanks.

Fuel payload =  4 kg of fossil fuel.

Two mock-up fuel tanks need to be fabricated.

And so the work began, 90 mm steam pipe and end caps were procured.

Pipe cut to size, and holes drilled for the filler, return, and breather pipes.

Job done

Running nipples cut in half and turned down in the lathe to fit snugly in the fuel pipe drilling.

Rear fin assembly mounted on the end cap along with the outlet fitting.

Outlet fitting braised into place on the end cap.

The filler , return and breather fittings welded into place on the tank.

the rear fin assembly was cut from flat sheet.
